First of all, What is LARP (the main thing we do)?

LARP:
Players take on the role of characters in a fictional setting and physically portray them, improvising their characters' speech and movements somewhat like an actor in improvisational theatre. This is distinct from traditional role-playing games where character actions are described verbally.

The setting, rules, and characters may be defined in a LARP publication, invented by the organisers of the larp, or created by the players themselves.

Play usually takes place within a defined physical space. This may be a public area or a private building or section that has been borrowed or hired for the purpose. In some cases members of the public who are not involved in the LARP may be in the play area, in which case they may either be ignored or treated as part of the fictional setting. Play usually starts and ends at pre-defined times, and may occur over hours or days.

Unlike in theatre there is usually no audience, as Games are played for the satisfaction of the participants.

Beyond these basic common features, Games vary greatly. In particular there is a broad spectrum of settings that play takes place in, methods of physically representing the characters and the settings, game rules, and types of activity that characters are involved in.

So who is 5th Wall Gaming?

5th Wall Gaming is a group of people who have decided to make a company that can provide people with experiences they can't usually find in reality.

So, how do you do this?

Well, lots of ways really. We have the list below and if you want something that doesn't fit into the scope of the list, we can make it up as well (Like we did for SGames [Strategy Games]).

  • We are able to run games of this nature at your convention for a minimial cost (usually, just the cost of a room and admission to the convention itself).
  • Want to add a little fun to your next party? You can select certain "Characters" to invite to your party (Such as "Old Man who mummbles allot" and "Obsessive/Complusive cleaner" or "Corporate Mogal who made his fortune selling paper clips") and have them interact with each other or with your guests. You can either tell your guests we are comming or have it be a surprise.
  • Want to play a game of "Who's Line is it anyway"? We will come with our props and run the game for your group.
  • Everyone heard about at least 1 ARG (Alternate Reality Game). If your company has something to sell or promote, we can do it in a way that will make people drop their jaws.

Where are you guys located? Do you Travel?:

We are located mostly in the Portland, Oregon area.

Yes, we do travel, but only for buisness we feel are worth it. For events outside of Oregon and Washington, here is what we do.

  1. We find out if you are willing to cover the cost of travel. It's not a deal breaker if you can't, but travel cost reimbursement comes in as a major factor in our decision making as to where to go next.
  2. We consider the amount of exposure we will get from doing your event. GenCon not covering travel costs is fine with us as long as we can get memberships and a room. (You listening GenCon?). We also like the small cons. Sure, it may not be great exposure, but we would rather help you grow your con into something better then it already is.
  3. Money. Sorry guys, but having a budget for the event means that we get paid to game (which is why we started this buisness in the first place). So while we will do events "Pro Bono", we will end up taking a paying job over a non-paying one if there was a conflict.
  4. We also look to how open you are to letting us do our own thing. If we have to get 5 levels of approval for any schedule we submit or want to change something, that's a big down side to us. After all, you hired us. So sit back and don't worry about the event entertainment we provide. Micromanaging us is a sure way for us not to accept return offers.
We take all the answers to the above and sit down and figure out what we are going to do. All the updates are put down on our calendar page in real time.
So what the heck is that cube thing?

That is called a Tesseract. We felt it was a good symbol for our group since we are all about breaking down the 5th wall. :)
